The 4th of July is usually a big day on the water, but for some reason, it was Really a big day on the American River.   Instead of having a big group of boats going to the Mandeille firework show in the Delta, it looked like everyone was up in Sac.

The raft-up was one of the biggest I have seen, with the exception of Potluck.  We were bad and only had a little section of the river open for folks to get by the raft up.  It literally extended to Potluck Beach on one side.

4th of July on the American River

Just in case you miss it here are a few more pics.  If you have any pics you would like to have added here please send then to the BoaterGuy or Zguy@yahoo.com.  Of course there is The Social Boater forum if you would like to comment or add anything.

Seems like there were plenty of boat out on the river, and the hard part was trying to figure out how to fit everyone in the raft-up who wanted to be there.  Of course there were lots of other raft-ups and folks sterned into the beach.

With all the boats it was hard to find an open spot to jump into the water.  Well not that hard, and the American River is still running very very cold!  So no long stays in the water, and then there is that shrinkage issue.  LOL

Of course no one ever goes hungry, and someone was always handing out hors’doeuvres or drinks and I have to say some very nice blended drinks.

Well it may be love or friends, but the water is sure a great place to get to know someone better.  Stan and Dave seemed to be enjoying.

And we should all note Stan took Loony Tunes out to the American for the first time this year.

There still is nothing like having your friends close by to make it fun and special.  After all that is what Social Boating is all about.

Joe and Vicky even brought their boat “Cat House” up from Mexico to be here.  Well not just for the 4th of July.  What a great boat!  Glad to have the two of you back on the American River.
