Speaking of CCYC, Commodore Bruce has put together a whole new updated CCYC Website. The Officers and Board have put together a great list of events for this year. They are also talking about adding some new cruises, so stay tuned.
The Club is lucky to have another great cast of Officer and Board members this year. They will be working hard to have all these great party events that look so easily done. Be sure to thank all the officers and board member for both CCYC and SYC and help out when you can. You would be surprised how fun it is to plan and make a party happen.
Speaking of the Sacramento Yacht Club, they also have a great listing of events and cruises on the SYC website. Of course with Commodore Gordon Hubble at the helm how could it be anything but awesome! SYC is also in the process of updating some of their older docks so that is exciting. We are so lucky to have Two Great Yacht Clubs in Sacramento.
I’m trying out the a New Facebook Social Boater Group page. It looks like a great way to post your Social Boating pictures, and I have made it so any member of the group can post their pictures. There have already been some great pictures posted. Don’t be surprised if you see some of them show up here.
It is also time to start, or at least start thinking, about getting your boats in ship shape for the new season.
It’s time for oil changes and new impellers, especially if your boats impellers were not changed last year.
Don’t forget about your poor generator too. I like to change impellers every other year. Also check your sea strainers too. Don’t be like me and wait till you see steam or high temperatures on the engine gauges.
If you need help or advice ask the Boater Guy or post your questions on the Facebook Social Boater Group page. Us boaters always have an opinion about everything, and if we don’t know, heck we just make it up. Seriously though, you would be amazed at the expertise all around you.
Bob from Tsunami is one of many with eye watering knowledge, and if you hand him a Bud Light Beer, you get that years of experience for free! Of course consideration should be given to when you ask for that advice on the river. Perhaps this would be a good time to put in a disclaimer that the Boater Guy can NEVER be responsible, or is that held responsible.
Actually the hard part is getting us to shut up when you have heard enough.
If you need some boating services, check out the folks listed on the Miscellaneous – Boat Services part of this site. I have listed folks I know or folks that I trust for references. Let them know you saw them on this site.
If you have any pictures you would like me to post you can post them at the Facebook Social Boater site or email them to me. I also love comments or suggestions for the site. Thank you all. Please send them to the BoaterGuy or Zguy@yahoo.com. Of course there is The Social Boater forum if you would like to comment or add anything there as well. I’m finding the Facebook Social Boater Group is working out better then the forum site.
Hey there my friends / Social Boaters, here we are well into January 2010.
While I enjoy the winter I certainly look forward to the promise of a spring. I know January is still winter, but hey we are working on the longer and warmer days part of the year.
I’m really looking forward to the Annual Kickoff Party on February 20, 2010. I understand it will be at the Embassy Suites in Old Town. CCYC Fleet Captain Terry O’Connor did such a great job on the Lighted Boat Parade, CCYC must have roped her in to host the Kickoff.
Sherry and I are planning to spend the night on the Old Town Docks for the event, and I’m already hearing there will be quite a few CCYC members partying both at the Kickoff and on the Docks.
Sherry and I know all too well how big an effort this Kickoff party is for all the CCYC Club Officer and Volunteers. I’m sure if you want the help out on the Kickoff or for that matter any CCYC event, just contact Commodore Bruce Moneymaker.
I’m really looking forward to getting the new T-Shirts with the New Commodore’s saying for the year. I have inside information it is one of the best so bring some extra bucks for T-Shirts and the Raffle.
Oh and if there is a Business out there that would like to sponsor a gift for the Raffle, please contact the Boater Guy here or Commodore Bruce Moneymaker or Fleet Captain Terry O’Connor.
New Years at the Old Town Docks was a great time. I couldn’t believe I took the Dithpicable there on Tuesday with new years on Thursday, and I was lucky to get a side tie. The Mike, Naughty Viking was already there along with John and Jutta, Living the Dream. With over 50’ of Living the Dream getting there first, no wonder dock side ties were going quickly.
St. Somewhere, Nauty Toy and Top Shelf showed up the next day and found a spots, and Jackie made some awesome stew for all of us. There was a great potluck and we never seemed to run short of Brew and great food.
Fire Escape, Odie’s Ride, Kahuna, and Mark and Mary even brought their new 39 foot Sea Ray M & M’s to watch the fireworks. What a huge difference for Mark and Mary from a bass boat to a big cruiser.
Rob took some great pictures of the boats, I especially like the pic of Dithpicable of course, and posted them on the Social Boater Facebook group.
The fireworks were once again “Outstanding” especially the midnight showing. I didn’t think they were going to have the fireworks from the bridge, but they surprised us with a great show. What a great spot to view from the Old Town Docks with our boating friends.
I was in Alaska this month, and one of the folks in Anchorage I was working with has a 21 foot boat. He offered to take me out in the summer and show me the ice flows and glaciers calving. Now keep in mind this is summer boating in Alaska. And we think the American river is cold. Of course they have some great local beer brews and I had many free samples. It was a hard choice between Morning Wood I.P.A. Or the Beaver Tail Blond. It was A Great Tasting Blonde, and then you Never Let A Morning Wood Go To Waste!
2010 is going to be a great year for boating, and I know we are all looking forward to getting out on the water. I’m also looking forward to hearing about boating in other places around the country, and world for that matter. I will be posting that as I receive the information.
While I talked about the Awesome Lighted Boat Parade last month, I wanted to note that Comstock’s magazine did a small piece with some great pics. I think the Annual Holiday Lighted Boat Parade has becomes the Cities big attraction for December.
So just how did Mike Wallen, Meant to Be, get a mention in the Magazine with my boat??? Gil and Margie, Off Duty look really great, as does CCYC Commodore Bruce Moneymaker.
