Potluck On The Beach

August 19 - 22, 2010

If you have some Potluck Pictures to added here, please send then to the BoaterGuy or Zguy@yahoo.com.  I could use some of the BBQ crew and the folks who were serving drinks.  Of course there is The Social Boater forum if you would like to comment or add anything.

Arabian Nights

Well everyone we survived another Potluck.  Things sure have changed over the years that I have attended.  Not for better or for worse they just change because we keep changing.  The one thing that has not changed is the love of boating and sharing that feeling with our fellow boaters.  Now I don’t profess to know a lot about Potluck history, and we owe a lot to those who started this great event.

Warren Sax seems to have been there from the beginning and my hat is off to you Warren.  I was around when Mike Price became Mr. Potluck, and believe it or not there was an actual Potluck.  Of course there was the Beach Bitch and Elvis always showed up.  Then Packe (am sure I spelled he name wrong and will correct it if someone can help me out) and his crew would roast a whole pig on the beach.  Of course there were what seemed like 100s who walked to the party up the levee.  Thankfully for many digital cameras were not cheap and not very good, so your face would not be on Facebook within seconds.  Thank you thank you thank you!

While the party was off the hook, there were issues with so many folks who came out without a boat and no bathrooms.  How do you thank the guys who dug and maintained the honey pit for 3 days.  And of course there were those folks who didn’t have that social boater camaraderie spirit.  So now it seems Rob and Gordon have taken on the Mr. Potluck had and they are sure holding up the tradition.

Potluck 2010 Arabian Nights was sure a hit.  Thanks to all the many many folks who helped Rob and Gordon put this together and from the first meetings, clearing and cleaning the beach, to hauling the trash and taking it all down.  And how about a special mention to Margie from Off Duty who has put all our boat names on those lanterns and other Potluck themes over the years.  What an incredible effort, and yes thanks to all who came out to party and make it fun!  It wouldn’t be a party without you.

A week before after all the folks prepared the beach.  Who knows what party lurks!

Boats on the Monday before Potluck

Coming in on Friday you just know a party is on the brew, but what a welcome

The pictures are going to load very slowly depending on your computer and network speed  because the are so many.  I will find a way to make it more efficient but I wanted to get these out quickly.  I could use some pictures of the BBQ crew.  Here you go!

You can still get Potluck T-Shirts which look Awesome this year and it also supports next year’s Potluck.  Click here for the link
